Depositor guide
This guide explains what happens to your stock tokens from deposit to exit.
HoodStash does not promise a fixed return. Read what the strategy can cost before you deposit.
Before you start
You need:
- a wallet that supports the network shown in the app;
- a supported stock token in that wallet; and
- enough of the network gas token for each transaction.
The app reads your balance and vault state from the chain. You can explore a vault before you connect.
1. Connect your wallet
- Open the vault page.
- Select Connect wallet.
- Approve the connection in your wallet.
- Switch to the network that the app requests.
- Check the wallet address before you continue.
Connecting does not move a token. A later wallet confirmation is required for every transaction.
2. Choose a deposit
- Open the Deposit tab.
- Read your available stock-token balance.
- Read the current vault phase.
- Enter the amount that you want to deposit.
- Select Preview deposit.
If the vault does not have permission to take that amount, the app shows an approval first.
3. Approve the exact amount
The approval gives the vault permission to take the amount shown in the preview.
- Read the token, amount, and vault address.
- Confirm Approve exact amount in your wallet.
- Wait for the approval to confirm.
- Read the deposit preview that appears next.
- Confirm Request deposit in your wallet.
The app requests the exact amount. It does not request an unlimited approval.
The preview is a fresh check. It can fail if the chain state changes before you sign.
4. Understand the waiting queue
Your stock tokens move into the vault when the deposit request confirms. You do not receive active vault shares immediately.
The request waits for the next weekly round. This waiting queue prevents a late deposit from taking premium that earlier depositors earned.
The app shows:
- the pending amount;
- the weekly round that will receive it; and
- the point when the deposit becomes active.
The contract lets you cancel a queued deposit before activation. The app does not show this control yet. Do not expect a cancel button until the app adds it.
5. What the Friday result does
Settlement is the weekly result. It normally starts on Friday. A market holiday can move it to the last trading day.
The system records the first safe price after the option ends.
If that price is below the agreed sale price:
- the claim tickets end without exercise;
- the stock tokens stay in the vault; and
- the vault keeps the collected premium.
If that price is at or above the agreed sale price:
- ticket holders get a limited time to buy stock from the vault;
- each holder pays the agreed sale price;
- the vault receives dollar tokens; and
- the vault sends the matching stock tokens.
The Friday result does not always finish every action at once. An above-price result has an exercise window. Withdrawals can finish after that window closes.
If the price data is unsafe, settlement waits. The protocol does not use an unsafe price to force the weekly result.
6. What happens to your stock after the result
Below the agreed sale price, you do nothing. Your stock stays in the vault as active coverage. The next weekly round sells a new option on the same stock automatically. The vault rolls over by itself, week after week. Premium accrues into your share value with no claim action.
At or above the agreed sale price, the stock is sold for you at that price. Your position becomes dollar tokens: the sale payment plus your share of the premium. Those tokens stay in the vault until you withdraw them. If you want the next weekly round to sell an option for you again, deposit new stock first.
A withdrawal is always your choice. It is never a deadline. Request one in any week and it executes at that week's settlement. You can cancel it before the weekly round locks.
7. Read your payout
After the vault processes a withdrawal, the app can show two claimable amounts:
- stock tokens that remain in the vault; and
- dollar tokens received from exercised tickets.
The mix depends on the weekly result and the number of tickets that holders exercise.
8. Claim an available payout
- Open the Withdraw tab.
- Read the claimable stock-token and dollar-token amounts.
- Select Claim.
- Read the transaction preview.
- Confirm the transaction in your wallet.
- Wait for the transaction to confirm.
- Check both token balances in your wallet.
The vault does not push a payout to you. You claim it when it is ready.
9. Request a withdrawal
A withdrawal starts with your vault shares.
- Open the Withdraw tab.
- Read your share balance.
- Enter the number of shares that you want to withdraw.
- Select Preview withdrawal request.
- Read the preview.
- Confirm the request in your wallet.
Your shares move into the vault when the request confirms. You cannot transfer or reuse those shares while the request is active.
10. Cancel an unlocked withdrawal
The app shows Cancel request while the weekly round has not locked the request.
- Select Cancel request.
- Read the preview.
- Confirm the transaction in your wallet.
The vault returns the shares to your wallet.
After the request locks, wait for processing and claim the payout.
11. Emergency exit
The emergency exit is not a normal withdrawal.
The app shows Emergency redeem only after the contract has opened this path. The path opens after the required pause delay.
The emergency exit:
- returns your share of the assets that the vault holds;
- does not need a price reading; and
- can return more than one token.
Use the amount shown by the app. Read every token in the preview before you confirm.
Final check
Before any signature:
- Check the network.
- Check the wallet address.
- Check the vault address.
- Check the token and amount.
- Check whether the action is an approval, request, claim, cancellation, or emergency exit.
- Reject the transaction if one field is not what you expect.
